Molly Schaus, being a two-time Olympic Silver Medal-winning goaltender, shared her inspirational story and message of setting and reaching goals, and what it takes to be a champion. To honor her, each student in the audience had a decorated #30 on their backs.
As a culminating activity, every upper-grade student has been given the opportunity to design their own goalie mask, using symbols and pictures that are meaningful to them. One design will be chosen and used to create an actual mask that will be worn by Ducks goaltender Ryan Miller, at an upcoming game.
For many years, the Anaheim Ducks have generously provided experiences and opportunities for the students at Maxwell Elementary, and this is another example of just that.
